Reviews & Testimonials

"We wanted to do something more with our acreage and always had a passion for growing trees but didn't know where to begin. After meeting with Paul and his team we were more excited than ever. He helped us lay out an educated plan for growth and for our new tax designation. Any question we had was answered. He even took us to past sites to see the different stages of growth so we knew what to expect. Never did we feel any pressure to make a decision that we didn't feel comfortable with.

It has now been a little over a year since we planted and we are already seeing an increase in birds and animals. My kids and family are truly enjoying our acreage more than ever and look forward to each new year of development. The managed growth plan is engaging and will help us to raise our new forest as healthy as possible."

“Paul has been overseeing the management of our woodlots and forests for over 25 years. I have had the pleasure of working with Paul and Reid for the past 11 years, and in that time I have learned so much about forest management and the importance of being good stewards of our land. I have never met someone as passionate and dedicated to the preservation of our trees, forests and woodlots. Paul’s advice regarding government and property tax incentive programs has ensured that we have long term, cost effective solutions to the preservation of the lands.

I would highly recommend Paul and his team at Trees Unlimited.

“At our farm in West Lincoln, Trees Unlimited arranged for and planted over 8000 seedlings on 10 acres.  One goal of the project is to establish a wildlife corridor from our and neighbours' forests to a stream gully and to the Chippewa  Creek (Welland River).  For decades, we have planted trees for their beauty and to capture carbon.  This planting is a significant step.
Trees Unlimited did all of the necessary arrangements including tapping into the available assistance.  Trees Unlimited continue to monitor the site, as well as answering questions and providing advice to us. Family and friends were there for the planting, an enjoyable day.”

“The Ontario Woodlot Association (OWA) has had the pleasure of working with Trees Unlimited on several projects in recent years, and we have found this to be a mutually positive and beneficial arrangement and relationship in every respect. Paul and Reid Robertson are wonderful to work with, providing both excellent leadership and top-notch technical skills in all that they undertake with us. The OWA also greatly appreciates the mentorship that Paul and Reid provide to our staff, willingly sharing their knowledge and experience, encouraging and supporting our employees at every opportunity. They are also both dedicated volunteers with the OWA, and are stalwart members within our Niagara Chapter.

Two particular initiatives that we worked together on recently include a Biochar Project with Mohawk College, Walker Industries and Char Technologies in Thorold, as well as a Hemlock Woolly Adelgid Management Trial with Long Point Conservation. Both projects were rewarding and successful, with the former allowing an opportunity for the partners to learn much about the logistics and economics of providing biomass from privately owned forests in the production of char. The latter project enabled the establishment of the very first trial of newly approved pesticides in Ontario, in fighting the spread of the invasive hemlock woolly adelgid, with some 500 hemlock trees being inoculated and geolocated for monitoring.

The OWA looks forward to any and all future opportunities to work collaboratively with Trees Unlimited!”

Since 2012, with Trees Unlimited’s assistance, Clinton Pit has executed a largescale Woodland Rehabilitation and Restoration Plan at its Goderich site. Its goal is to establish a climax forest woodland community via ecological restoration and to maintain the interior forest habitat and diversity functions of forested patches while minimizing the loss of these functions on the property. Approximately 10,200 cubic metres of forest soils have been removed during various phases of extraction and used to cover rehabilitated portions of the site at average depths of 30 centimetres. Today, rehabilitated portions of the land already feature different tree species (e.g., black cherry, red oak, bur oak, sugar maple, white spruce and white pine, etc) as well as shrub and ground cover species (e.g., Great St. Johns Wort, brambles, staghorn sumac and a variety of goldenrod).

The Clinton Pit was the recipient of the 2022 Judges Award for Progressive Rehabilitation Industry Award from the Ontario Sand Soil and Gravel Association.
